Virtual Classic Films – “Three Amigos”

In light of closures from COVID regulations and renovations in the building, we are offering a “Virtual” Classic Film Series. The specific film will be available for 24 hours on the specified date and you’ll be able to access the film through a link with a password. To access the link, please check back here or contact mlyle@nmjc.edu. This week, see “Three Amigos” (1986), starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase & Martin Short. Synopsis: Three actors accept an invitation to a Mexican village to perform their onscreen bandit fighter roles, unaware that it is the real thing.

Megalodon – The Largest Shark that Ever Lived

Walk through full-scale jaws into a 60-foot-long Megalodon sculpture and begin to explore the story of this fantastic ancient creature – its size, structure, diet, lifespan, relatives, neighbors, evolution, extinction and the science that continues to reveal Megalodon’s tale. Tooth-shaped island units support interpretive materials, which include graphics, hands-on components, and family- friendly interactives. The exhibit is object-rich, including numerous fossil specimens from several collections, and life-size and scale models of other fossil and modern sharks.  

Southwest Symphony presents Petroglyph String Quartet Virtual Concert

Southwest Symphony announces its next virtual concert featuring Petroglyph String Quartet on Thursday, April 22 at 6pm.Petroglyph String Quartet performs classical and contemporary works by the world’s greatest composers. Violinists Michael Allerheiligen and Yakima Fernandez, violist Karl Winkler and cellist Anastasia Nellos have performed with professional ensembles including Santa Fe Pro Musica, the Santa Fe Symphony, the New Mexico Philharmonic, the Southwest Symphony, and the San Juan Symphony. The Quartet is noted for innovative programs, energetic and thoughtful performances, and superb musicality, with recitals in Albuquerque at Robertson & Sons Violin Shop recital hall, in Rio Rancho at the Loma Colorado library arts series, in Santa Fe for the Southwest Arts recital Series, and in Durango, CO for the 3rd Avenue Arts recital series.

YPAW Aladdin Jr. Registration

The 2021 Youth Performing Arts Workshop is open to students ages 9-18. Due to the popularity of the show, early paid registration is strongly recommended. Due to staffing, we will be having the workshop in the evenings (see schedule on application form.) We will have 35 spots available. Once 35 paid registration have been met, we will not accept any more registrations. We are limited to 35. Students will receive instruction in all areas of play production including: basic theatre terminology, stage movement, character development, voice production, singing, dancing, make-up techniques, scene painting, and much more. Student participation in activities will be appropriate to their age and skill level.This year we are celebrating our 12th year of the Youth Performing Arts Workshop. We are excited to be working on Disney’s Aladdin Jr. The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. You may pay with check, cash, or online. Spring Take and Make

Stop by the Museum for a spring-themed craft between 10am and 1pm. We'll be out by the curb in front of the museum. You can get one for everyone in the car and up to two extra. This is FREE!.
