LET’S ALL WIN, TOSS IT IN THE BIN!! The weather is changing, and with that comes more Neighborhood Clean-up! Gather your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and co-workers to help Commissioner Mills clean up District 2. The City of Hobbs Keep Hobbs Clean and Beautiful is having a Neighborhood Clean up on April 10th at 8:00 am. We will meet at the corner of East Bender and Homestead. Volunteers will receive instructions and the supplies necessary to accomplish the task. All the areas we will be cleaning are within walking distance of the meeting tent. Food, Vendors, Cookoff, Entertainment, Fun.  5K runs starts at 9 am.  Food begins at 12 pm.  Cornhole Tournament. $75 per team.  Cash prizes. Project Heartburn is a new event that United Way has developed in partnership with CrudeOil Athletics and The City of Hobbs to raise money and awareness for the ever growing need of hunger and mental health in Lea County. This event will be in two parts. A 5K run set up by Crude Oil Athletics And A cook-off in which we hope to get participation from food trucks, restaurants, Businesses, and general cooking talent.

The 2021 Youth Performing Arts Workshop is open to students ages 9-18. Due to the popularity of the show, early paid registration is strongly recommended. Due to staffing, we will be having the workshop in the evenings (see schedule on application form.) We will have 35 spots available. Once 35 paid registration have been met, we will not accept any more registrations. We are limited to 35. Students will receive instruction in all areas of play production including: basic theatre terminology, stage movement, character development, voice production, singing, dancing, make-up techniques, scene painting, and much more. Student participation in activities will be appropriate to their age and skill level.This year we are celebrating our 12th year of the Youth Performing Arts Workshop. We are excited to be working on Disney’s Aladdin Jr. The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. You may pay with check, cash, or online.
